Highlights

Benefits for Active Participants

Life Insurance

• If you die from any cause while you are covered under the plan—on or off the job—a $20,000 life insurance benefit will be paid to your named beneficiary.
• ULLICO is the plan’s insurer, effective July 1, 2022.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)

• If you have a covered injury or die as the result of an accident, the AD&D plan will pay an additional benefit of $40,000.
• Effective July 1, 2022, if you have a covered injury or die as the result of an accident, on the way to work, on the way home from work, or on the job, the AD&D plan will pay an additional $40,000.

Benefits for Retired Participants

Life Insurance

• If you die from any cause while you are covered under Medical Plan—and you are under age 65 and Not Medicare Eligible when you die—a $10,000 life insurance benefit will be paid to your named beneficiary.
• If you die from any cause while you are covered under Medical Plan—you are over age 65 and Medicare Eligible when you die—a $5,000 life insurance benefit will be paid to your named beneficiary.
• ULLICO is the plan’s insurer.

Self-Funded Life Insurance

• Effective June 1, 2022, if you die from any cause—and when you retired in the Connecticut Laborers’ Pension Fund you retired with 30 or more pension credits—a $5,000 self-funded life insurance benefit will be paid to your named beneficiary.
• The Health Fund self-funds and pays this benefit to your beneficiary.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) benefits are not available to retirees.
